AGREEMENT ON CONSTRUCTION OF KRAVICE-BIJAČA SECTION OF 5C CORRIDOR MOTORWAY SIGNED

Agreement on the construction of the Kravice-Bijača section of the 5c Corridor motorway was signed on the 7th of September 2011, by the CEO of FBiH Motorway, Ensad Karić, and representatives of a consortium of companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The signing of the agreement was also attended by the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Nermin Nikšić, FBiH President Živko Budimir, Deputy Prime Minister and FBiH Minister of Physical Planning Desnica Radivojević, FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications Enver Bijedić, and representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The construction works on the Kravice-Bijača section will be performed by Euro-Asfalt Sarajevo, ŽGP Sarajevo and Hidrogradnja Sarajevo. The time for completion of the project is ten months. This project will add another 4.09 kilometres of new motorways to the 5c Corridor. It will also be the first southern section of the motorway, and a direct connection to the motorway network in Croatia.

BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS ON VIJENAC TUNNEL

The first stage of construction of the Vijenac Tunnel has commenced. The first task is to construct and reinforce the approach cutting of the right tube. The drilling is done using the top-head and bench method, with the maximum height of the opening not exceeding four metres.

The entire excavation and reinforcement of the right tube’s approach cutting will require six levels. Preparations are also under way for the building of temporary offices, warehouses, workshops, and site accommodations for the construction workers.

DRIVUŠA-GORICA MOTORWAY JULY UPDATE

In the month of July, the building works on the 5c Corridor section Drivuša-Gorica focused on construction of pier footings for bridges M3 and M2, along with the filling of mounds for the carriageways and the Zenica exit slip road. Works are also under way on the construction of the Drivuša toll station. The project is proceeding according to schedule.

ANTO BABIĆ ST AND TRANSVERSE ROAD G RECONSTRUCTION COMPLETE

The rehabilitation of Anto Babić St and the Transverse Road G started in June 2011. The project involved the removal of the old asphalt layers, replacement of kerbs, relocation of gully inlets, and the paving of a new SMA 16 layer. The finishing works also included the paving of damaged footways.

MIHRIVODE DEVELOPMENT JULY UPDATE

Construction works are under way on three buildings forming the Mihrivode mixed housing/office development. The following operations are currently in progress: erection of shuttering for reinforced concrete slabs, erection of ground-floor separation walls, construction of ventilation systems and chimneys, mounting of AAC wall panels, installation of plumbing and electrical wiring, construction of retaining walls, and waterproofing of exterior walls.

RECONSTRUCTION OF BAKU STREET

Reconstruction of Baku St in Dobrinja neighbourhood began in early July 2011. The project consists of replacing the kerb stones and gully grates, removal of the old asphalt layer and paving of a new AB11 layer.

Following the completion of building works, the final stage of the project will include landscaping of the grass verges.

CONSTRUCTION OF VIJENAC TUNNEL

Euro-Asfalt Ltd. and the FBiH Motorways signed an agreement in April on the continuation of construction works on the Vijenac tunnel. The tunnel is part of the 5c Corridor motorway, section Drivuša-Kakanj, subsection Gorica-Bilješevo. A consortium from Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of Euro-Asfalt, ŽGP and Hidrogradnja, together with the Slovenian company Primorje, will be in charge of the tunnel construction.

The deadline for completion of the project is 33 months. The total length of the twin-tube tunnel is 5.88 kilometres; the left tube is 2.96 kilometres long, and the right tube 2.92 kilometres. The first stage of the construction will consist of excavation and securing of the approach cutting, building of the portal, and excavations of the tunnel’s top heading.

ANTO BABIĆ ST REPAIRS

Euro-Asfalt Ltd. is performing repair works on three lanes of a damaged carriageway in Ante Babić St, roughly 1,800 metres in length. The repair will involve the removal of old layers of asphalt, repair of kerbs, levelling of the existing manholes, and the paving of a new layer of SMA-16. The expected duration of the project is 45 working days.

MOST NA IV TRANSVERZALI U ULICI AZIZE

4TH TRANSVERSE ROAD BRIDGE – AZIA ŠAĆIRBEGOVIĆ ST, MALTA

Reconstruction of the Aziza Šaćirbegović St bridge was completed ahead of schedule. The reconstruction works included patching of the RCC structure, replacement of the existing expansion joints, paving of the base and surface asphalt courses, paving of mastic asphalt footways, new horizontal thermoplastic markings, new traffic sings, as well as new stainless steel handrails.

The bridge was officially opened as part of the festivities celebrating the Day of Novo Sarajevo Municipality, and represents another successful achievement of Euro-Asfalt.

RECONSTRUCTION OF NEDIM FILIPOVIĆ STREET

Reconstruction of the road connecting the 4th and 5th Transverse Roads – Nedim Filipović St – was completed in May ahead of schedule. The project involved the construction of a new carriageway and the accompanying road infrastructure and furniture. The new road was officially opened as part of the festivities celebrating the Day of Novo Sarajevo Municipality.
