CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON THE PRIMARY URBAN THOROUGHFARE IN ZENICA
A ceremony marking the official beginning of a multi-million investment project, the Stage 1 of the Primary Urban Thoroughfare (Glavna gradska magistrala – GGM), was held in Zenica. The 3.2-kilometre road will be built by a consortium led by Euro-Asfalt Sarajevo. The estimated cost of the first stage is 23 million KM. The time for completion is 24 to 26 months.
Head of Zenica Municipality Husejn Smajlović, who inaugurated the project together with High Representative Valentin Inzko, stated that this project will provide Zenica with jobs and new perspectives for the local construction industry. GGM will be 7.8 kilometres long in total (3.2 kilometres of urban thoroughfare, 4.6 kilometres of suburban road).
The construction will be divided into two stages. The main purpose of this longitudinal urban/suburban thoroughfare is to improve the traffic flow and connect the primary and secondary street networks with the 5c Corridor motorway (via the M-17 A-level road), and with other road networks via regional roads R-441 and R-445. The project will provide Zenica with a four-lane road divided by a central reservation, two roundabouts, around a dozen crossings, footways and road furniture. Apart from Euro-Asfalt, the remaining five members of the consortium are Bosnian-Herzegovinian companies Jata Srebrenik, GP Put Sarajevo, Almy-Transport Zenica, Deling Tuzla, and ŽGP Sarajevo.
KRAVICE-BIJAČA MOTORWAY CONSTRUCTION
The construction of the A1 motorway section Kravice-Bijača is proceeding according to plan. Presently the construction work is focused on the open cutting of the main motorway course and the Kravice resting area, construction of a hard rock embankment along the main motorway course and the area designated for the Zvirići motorway control and maintenance centre.
Excavations are under way for the medium-voltage electrical cable ducts, while the relocation of the overhead power lines has been completed. Below you may find the latest photo updates from this construction site.
CONSTRUCTION OF DRIVUŠA-GORICA MOTORWAY SECTION
The construction works on the 5c Corridor motorway section Drivuša-Gorica are continuing with the excavation of surface soil between M1 and M2 bridges, transportation and dumping of removed soil at a designated landfill, gravelling of the compacted and tested rock embankment, the paving of a deviation on the M17 road, and preparations for the replacement of the existing culvert on the M17 road.

MIHRIVODE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
Works are continuing on the housing complex Mihrivode, which consists of three units, together with accessories and utilities. Construction works on Unit 1 are currently focusing on the erection of walls between sections 300 and 400, as well as the drilling of reinforced concrete slabs for plumbing installations.
Workers in Unit 2 are erecting shutters for the pouring of reinforced concrete slabs at section 200. As for Unit 3, workers are currently erecting shutters for concrete slabs at section 300, and building separation walls in the basement.
VIJENAC TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION
The construction of the right tube of Vijenac tunnel is under way. As of the 10th of March, 2012, Euro-Asfalt has excavated 413 metres of the top heading, 290.7 metres of bench, and 114 metres of foundations. Works are proceeding according to plans. ZENICA PRIMARY URBAN THOROUGHFARE AGREEMENT SIGNED
Authorized representative of the GGM consortium Hamed Ramić, Head of Zenica Municipality Husejn Smajlović, and Head of the Physical and Urban Planning Company “Zenica” Mirsad Heleg signed an agreement on the construction of the Primary Urban Thoroughfare (Glavna gradska magistrala – GGM) in Zenica.
The total cost of the project is 22,015,551.84 KM, excluding VAT. Construction is expected to start in March, and the time for completion is 24 to 26 months. Members of the GGM Zenica consortium are Euro-Asfalt Sarajevo, Almy-transport Zenica, GP Put Sarajevo, Jata Group Srebrenik, Deling Tuzla and ŽGP Sarajevo.
VIJENAC TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION, JANUARY UPDATE
The construction of Vijenac tunnel is proceeding according to plan. As of Friday, the 13th of January 2011, the right tunnel tube has reached the 245-metre mark. KRAVICE-BIJAČA MOTORWAY CONSTRUCTION, JANUARY UPDATE
The construction of the Kravice-Bijača motorway is proceeding according to schedule. The current tasks include the construction of embankments, construction of concrete abutments for the Sulet and Galići underpasses, pouring of concrete foundations for motorway control and maintenance centre, installation of water pipes, and preparations for the subbase filling.
Preparations are also under way for the construction of drainage systems and concrete cable ducts. The construction of a 2,000 mm culvert and the excavation of the Dol underpass have been completed. Below you may find the latest photo updates of this construction site.
DRIVUŠA-GORICA MOTORWAY JANUARY UPDATE
Currently ongoing tasks on the Drivuša-Gorica motorway building site include the transportation and filling of rock aggregates along the motorway course, the construction of a bypass road behind pier no. 10, excavations for the construction of 600 mm and 1,200 mm culverts, laying of pipes, transportation and filling of rock aggregates for the construction of a new access road for the Vijenac tunnel. Workers are also constructing the electrical cable ducts leading to the tunnel, as well as the 1,000 mm culvert and a segmented duct for the brook. OPENING OF BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF TARČIN-SUHODOL MOTORWAY SECTION
The opening of bids for the construction of the 5c Corridor motorway section Tarčin-Suhodol was held on the 10th of January, 2012. The best bid was submitted by a consortium from Bosnia and Herzegovina consisting of Euro-Asfalt, ŽGP Sarajevo, GP Put Sarajevo, Hidrogradnja Sarajevo, Hering Široki Brijeg, and Vijadukt Zagreb.
The total cost of the project is 113,153,422 euros. The time for construction is three years. The length of the motorway section is 4.65 kilometres. The section also includes the three kilometres long Suhodol tunnel. This is a significant achievement for companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina having in mind that several large companies from various European countries also participated in the bidding.
