RENOVATION AND OVERHAUL OF TRAMWAY TRACKS

The renovation and overhaul of the tramway system in Sarajevo continued with the paving of the tramway line between the Institute of Hygiene and Marijin Dvor, the digging of cable ducts and the laying of electrical cables for public transport, the setting up of road signs and access restrictions for the strip of the construction site between the Orthodox church in Baščaršija and the Eternal Flame monument. SIGNING OF CONSTRUCTION AGREMEENT FOR SUHODOL-TARČIN MOTORWAY

A construction agreement for the 5c Corridor motorway section Suhodol-Tarčin was signed today in Sarajevo. The agreement was signed by the CEO of FBiH Motorways Ensad Karić, and CEO of Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret a.s. Kemal Unluer, with FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications Enver Bijedić and a representative of Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret a.s. management as co-signatories. The signing of this agreement was followed by the signing of a consortial agreement between Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret a.s. and Euro-Asfalt, which regulates the companies’ joint effort on the construction of this section.

The signing was attended by FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, BiH Minister of Transport and Communications Damir Hadžić, as well as the representatives of EBRD. The total cost of the project is 115,155,407.78 euros, VAT included. The time for completion is 28 months. The signing of this agreement marks the beginning of construction on the new five-kilometre section of the 5c Corridor. The most challenging feature is the 2,800-metre long Suhodol tunnel. Other notable structures include the 400-metre long Tarčin tunnel, 90-metre Bijela Bridge, and the Tarčin junction which will connect the motorway with the M17 road. The signing of the agreement also marks the beginning of construction works on the 20-kilometre Vlakovo-Tarčin section. Below you may find the photographs of the signing ceremonies.

VIJENAC TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

As part of the construction works on the northern side of the Vijenac tunnel’s right tube, as of the 12th of May 2012, workers have completed the excavation and setting of primary formwork for 640.2 metres of the top-heading, 393.7 metres of the left-side benches and 415 metres the right-side bench. Foundation excavations are under way.

336 metres of foundations have so far been drilled on the right side, and 252 metres on the left side. The excavation of the left-side invert arch has reached 192 metres, while the right-side one has reached 300 metres. Other ongoing works include the excavation of the pedestrian cross-passage between the tubes (16.1 metres completed so far). The project is proceeding according to schedule.

RECONSTRUCTION OF AZIZA ŠAĆIRBEGOVIĆ ST

The reconstruction of Aziza Šaćirbegović St was completed on the 6th of May, 2012. The reconstruction involved the replacement of kerb stones and milling of the existing pavement, followed by subbase filling, installation of new kerb stones, paving of the base layer with BNS asphalt, and finally the paving of the surface layer with SMA. RENOVATION AND OVERHAUL OF TRAMWAY TRACKS

The renovation and overhaul of tramway tracks in Sarajevo is proceeding according to schedule. Before the actual renovation, workers first had to install road signs and restrict access to the construction site, followed by pavement milling and the removal of concrete layer under the tramway lane between the Institute of Hygiene and Holiday Inn Hotel. New tracks were laid at the road crossing next to the Institute of Hygiene, together with the pouring of concrete junctions. Other ongoing works include the construction of electrical cable ducts. KRAVICE-BIJAČA MOTORWAY CONSTRUCTION

The construction of the 5c Corridor motorway section Kravice-Bijača is proceeding with the finishing works on the hard rock surface cutting, and the construction of embankments along the entire motorway course. The rolling of the fill slope has been completed.

Other ongoing works include the laying of medium-voltage cables, the construction of central drainage system of the motorway, the pouring of concrete for the foundations and foundation beams of roadside buildings, the assembling of prefabricated RC units and the filling of rock aggregates, and the building of interior walls and utility installations. GGM ZENICA CONSTRUCTION WORKS

The construction of the Primary Urban Thoroughfare (Glavna gradska magistrala – GGM) in Zenica began in late March, 2012. Presently the work is focused on preparations of the main GGM course, relocation of utility infrastructure, clearing of trees, surface cutting, excavations and construction of concrete pier foundations for the Kočeva Bridge, preparation works on the M1 Bridge, and erection of scaffolding required for the removal of utility installations and the dismantling of the bridge structure.

A new access road towards the Lukovo Polje Bridge is under construction, along with pavement milling, removal of concrete slabs, installation of collectors, and the filling of subbase for Asko Borić St and Metalurg roundabout. The reconstruction of a temporary replacement for Goražde St, while it is closed for traffic, has been completed. The project is proceeding according to schedule. RECONSTRUCTION OF TRAMWAY TRACKS BEGIN IN SARAJEVO

A ceremony was held marking the official beginning of reconstruction works on the Sarajevo tramway line – the section between the Old Orthodox Church and the Marijin Dvor reverse curve. Euro-Asfalt Sarajevo is in charge of the reconstruction. The length of the tramway under repair is 2,200 metres. The time for completion is 2.5 months. VIJENAC TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION

As part of the construction works on the northern side of the Vijenac tunnel’s right tube, as of the 12th of April 2012, Euro-Asfalt has excavated 520.6 metres of the top-heading, 365 metres of the bench, 240 metres of foundations on the right side, and 180 metres of foundations on the left side. Works are also proceeding on the excavations of the invert arch, which has so far reached the 168-metre line.
